Use in Cancer

Recombinant interferon alfa-2b is approved to treat:

  • AIDS-related Kaposi sarcoma. It is used in certain adults who do not have many symptoms of the disease.
  • Follicular lymphoma that is aggressive. It is used with combination chemotherapy in adults.
  • Genital warts in adults.
  • Hairy cell leukemia in adults.
  • Melanoma. It is used as adjuvant therapy in adults who have had surgery and have a high risk of recurrent cancer.

Recombinant interferon alfa-2b is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer and other conditions.
